Galaxy in my Hands

Been seeing this look on Tumblr and wanted to try it out.  I love this but I would have to sport this in the fall/winter months.

You will need:
  • Jordana in Black
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Blue Me Away!
  • Jordana in Lemon Tropic
  • Wet n Wild Mega Last in Soul Mate
  • Wet n Wild Wild Shine in Sapphire Blue
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Strobe Light
  • Seche Vite Top Coat
  • Makeup sponge (or any dense sponge)

1.  Black base!  You can probably use another colour for a base but black looks best.

 2.  Put a drop of blue (Blue Me Away) on a piece of paper.  Dab the corner of your sponge in it and then dab off any excess on the paper.

3.  Carefully dab/sponge on the blue.  Do it in a messy pattern.  It doesn't matter if you're clean or not.

 4.  Using the same sponge, dip it in pale pearly green (Lemon Tropic).  I dabbed on the edges of the blue.

 5.  Next is a pearly purple (Soul Mate).  I dabbed this one over randomly to create some depth.

 6.  I used a pearly dark blue (Sapphire Blue) to balance it all out.

7.  Finally, I topped it off with some glittery polish (Strobe Light).  Remember to top coat to seal it on in =)

Now you have the galaxy in your hands.  This is actually a fairly simple design to do.

Some tips:
You should wait for the black to dry before proceeding with sponging.  Also, I used the same sponge for all the colours.  I'm not sure if that makes a difference but the colours seem to blend better.  And finally, you can also create larger stars by using a dotting tool and white polish.  Just dot on a few random large stars.

It's a tough one to remove from your nails but at least it looks good while it's on =P

Hope you liked this one!

Silver Bursts

This is a design where you drag a pin over wet nail polish on your nails.  You have to work fast before it dries but it gives a really cool effect.  You can doing different designs with this technique but I'll show you how to make "bursts".  Hope you like it!

You will need:
  • Jordana Black
  • Color Club Smoke & Mirrors
  • Rimmel Top Coat
  • Pin

1.  Start with a black base.  Remember you have to work fast!

2.  While the black is still wet, put 3 dabs of silver polish on the nail.

3.  Then dab with black on top of the silver.

4.  While it's still wet, drag a pin from one end to the other in different directions.  You should get something that looks like the picture above.

5.  Add a few small dots around the silver burst.

6.  Drag a few of the spots with a pin towards the burst.  Top coat the whole thing!

I suggest working on each nail one at a time.  Here's the final look:

It's quite pretty =)

Enjoy!

Night Out

I'm going to have a night out with my classmates.  We're done with our program and we think we deserve a good time!  We have a graduation tea during the day and then a party at night.  I thought I should erase the pink and go with a clean but fun black mani.  Something to bring me from day to night.

You will need:
  • Jordana Black
  • Fine black glitter polish (no name)
  • Kiss Nail Art Paint Silver
  • Rimmel Super Wear Top Coat
  • Sally Hansen Manicure Aid
  • 35 mins

1.  Tape with a manicure guide and paint a black tip.  My poor thumb nail chipped today =(  So short!

2.  Paint thin vertical lines of black/dark grey glitter on the tips.

3.  Paint thin vertical silver lines next to the glitter you just painted.  Make sure to leave the black underneath showing on the other side.  So it should look like glitter-silver-black-glitter-silver-black...etc.  Yes, I did get a silver/glitter fine line polish finally.

4.  Remove the tape!  You can keep it like this or do the next step.

5.  Continue the silver lining down the nail.  I went from longer to shorter lines.  You can also continue the dark glitter lines too.  I did that later.

6.  Top coat! =)

Some people don't like the black french tip look.  You can always do it in another colour or the classic white.  This was a really quick and easy design.  My hands are ready to do some fist pumping tomorrow night =)

Goodluck!
