Bumble Bees

Buzz Buzz...

You will need:
  • Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mellow Yellow
  • Jordana in Black
  • Rimmel Nail Tip Whitener
  • Seche Vite Top Coat
  • Dotting tool

1.  Paint your nails in a yellow base.

2.  Cut thin strips of tape and tape them over the nail.  Make sure the tip of your nails is left wider than the others.

3.  Paint over in black.  What ever is not taped will be black.

 4.  Peel off the tape carefully and you should get something like this.

5.  Dot 2 white eyes with a dotting tool.  Top coat it all.

My favourite colour is yellow =)  This is a super cute and super simple design to do.
Happy Pride Week to all Vancouverites!

Louis Vuitton

I've never owned a real Louis Vuitton anything.  It's way too expensive and I could never justify paying over $200 for a purse that only fits my wallet.  But I love the pattern!  My favourite is actually Damier Azur but I thought I should give the original Monogram a shot.  Make your nails expensive!!

You will need:
  • Revlon Chocolate Truffle
  • Joe Butter
  • Rimmel Top Coat
  • Fine paintbrush
  • 40 mins

1.  Start with a brown base.  The rest of the painting is done best when the brown base is completely dry.

2.  Paint a 'V' in the center of the nail with light yellow and a fine paintbrush.

3.  Starting from between the top of the 'V', make the letter 'L'.  The vertical line is supposed to be on a slight diagonal like that.

4.  Now paint 2 diamond shapes above and below the 'LV'.  There are also diamonds to the left and right of the 'LV' too.

5.  Now paint ' + ' on the 4 corners around the 'LV.

6.  There are circles on the remaining spots.  You can't really tell because the nail cuts off.

7.  Using the same brown as the base, paint ' + ' over the diamonds.

8.  Then add dots in the center of the yellow ' + '.

9.  Don't forget the ones that are cut off!  The circles have sort of the same brown ' + ' on them.  Just look at the pattern on google as reference.

10.  Use the yellow again, and dot the center of the brown ' + '.

11.  The circles too!  Top coat it all!

I only painted the thumb and ring finger because all fingers would take too much time.  I really like this one!  I guess it doesn't count as my own design since the pattern came from Louis Vuitton.  But hey, showed you how to do it =)

Newspaper Print

If you're a fan of text/typography, this could be fun! A simple newspaper design can look fun yet subtle. I used newspaper in this design but you can print off and use any font/text you like.

What you will need:
  • Joe Butter (cream light yellow color)
  • Rimmel top coat
  • Pieces of newspaper or other printed text (works better with laser/toner printers)
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Small container

Print shop!

1. Paint entire nail with Joe Butter.  You may need a few coats to get the true colour streak free.

2. Pour rubbing alcohol into a small container for your nail to dip in.  Dip in your nail for at least 30 seconds.

3. A piece of newspaper over top with the text side down on the nail.  Keep it there for 20 seconds or until the ink transfers on.

4.  Peel and you have the print on your nail!  Paint over it with a top coat to prevent the text from rubbing off.

If the text is not transferring well after a few nails, dump the old rubbing alcohol and pour in a fresh batch.  Remember, your nail has to be completely dipped in the rubbing alcohol.

So what's in the news today?

Good luck!
